For those who aren’t aware, Len Wiseman the director of Underworld, is hard at work on the creation of a Gears of War movie; in which he’ll be co-writing the film along with screenwriter Chris Morgan (Wanted, The Fast & The Furious). According to an interview held with Bloody-Disgusting.com, he has stated that he envisions the hit videogame as being part of a trilogy. “The hope is that we’re wanting to do three movies and really cover the bases on everything. Basically, a harder edged Lord of the Rings.”
Being the sci-fi/fantasy fan that I am, I was a bit more excited about the movie when he claimed that he wanted it to be “much more [on the] science fiction side of it than the creature side of it.” Which gives me actual hope for this movie considering the greater possibility for a more well adapted story-line rather than just a big budget action/horror film.
